Individual Website

In this project I was given the task to create my own website on a topic chosen from the World Wildlife Fund newsroom page on their website. I chose global warming, hence the website’s name Challenge the Change. I was required to design it, write two articles, and a workbook on my chosen topic. This was a project that aimed to better my understanding of keywords, SEO, web design, and writing content for the web.

Creating this website meant that I had to organize my tasks to optimize the quality of my project. I first decided that I had to thoroughly read the documents I was going to write on, as I would need to design and write content that was specific to the targeted audience. I made sure to use keywords that would enhance the website’s search engine optimization (SEO) and therefore attract the intended audience. Next, I chose to review content covered in one of my previous classes dealing with format, layout, and design to ensure that the website adhered to design principles while remaining relevant to my topic.

Beginning with research meant that I could design a website that would attract an audience that is interested in climate change. It also meant that I could prepare my written content before designing the site. This made it easier when designing the website because I could choose graphics for the keywords that I used to boost the site's SEO. This website is a testament to my ability to figure things out and work on my own. The result of these skills are a professional looking website and an improved understanding of writing for the web.
