Project Management

This project management document was written for my Capstone project, which was a semester long project that required interviews, articles written on those interviews, and a website made to exhibit my written content. This required a lot of planning to ensure that I met my deadlines and factored in all of the variables associated with the project. The elements that were most important were scope management, timeline management, integration management, quality management, and risk management.

Ensuring that the key elements were properly considered, I first had to outline the project in the scope management section. After knowing everything that would be involved in the project, I then had to estimate a timeline to make sure my project was finished and deliverable by the due date. After that came integration and quality management, which were very similar for this project. I had to write all the material in a consistent manner to integrate it and insure its quality for future readers. For these sections I also had to work closely with my instructor on different steps of the project to make sure it was going according to plan. Finally, all of the risks associated with the project had to be evaluated, because if something went wrong (like an interviewee backed out) my timeline would have to be reconsidered.

My planning and organization skills helped me finish the project on time and my instructor was very pleased with the result. These skills are not only important to have when it comes to work or school, but life in general. If events or projects are not well thought out, then unexpected occurrences could throw things way off track or even ruin things altogether. So, every event should be properly planned and organized to ensure a successful outcome.
