Proposal
For this assignment I had to make sure that my proposal was persuasive to ensure that it would stand out to the organization that was requesting proposals. To do this I studied samples of proposals that had been handed out in class and did my own research online into proposals to learn what language and document layout is the most attractive to certain organizations, as writing for specific audiences is crucial to a successful proposal.
When creating the proposal, I had to use my design skills to create a cover page and keep the style consistent throughout the Microsoft Word document. Another way that I used my design skills to make the proposal look more professional was to teach myself how to use CAD software to make a rough draft of what the bar would look like.
I also made sure that the way I communicated was specific to the audience, Muskoka Brewery, so that I wouldn’t sound too formal or informal. Muskoka Brewery gives a proposal maker slightly more leeway to be informal and even make jokes, which added to the persuasiveness of my proposal and demonstrated that I have a good handle on my communication skills.
Persuasiveness is a difficult but valuable skill to learn and bring to any job. It helps businesses make winning proposals, have grant requests accepted, and attract clients and qualified job seekers. These aspects make a business more money. Being persuasive is a part of knowing how to communicate well and communication is key. Employees need to know how to speak to their employers, co-workers, and clients if they want to be successful at their job. Due to the skills that I exhibited in this project, my instructor said that it would make a top contender for a real proposal.
